Using Chromecast

Has anyone successfully used Chromecast to transfer screen images to an HDTV screen?
If so, let me know how, please.

    Don't use Chrome or Chromecast, but it just looks like a WiFi connection which can link to your smartphone or laptop.

    When I'm on the laptop and want it on the big screen TV I just use an HDMI cable to connect them together, works great and its cheap, as long as you don't mind having the cable.

    Thanks. We have a Chromecast unit. I hope it will release me from HDMI leash! ;)
