Probably b/c they are still in the SP500 index. Both were once large caps but have declined a lot. Not sure how or how often stocks get re-classified with changes in share value.0

These two stocks show up because they are both in the S&P large cap index.

Here's an early SCTR's article which explains the groupings and how to scan for scooters.

Yes DNR is the lowest in the list and AVP is 4th from the bottom. To see a full list of market cap rankings for the S&P just run the following scan and review the output page which will include a market cap column.
[type = stock]
and [group is SP500]

123 stocks in the S&P are less than 10B in mkt cap, hence the title is misleading, inaccurate and not as useful as I had hoped for.0

You can scan for the market cap dollar value you are interested in. If you click on the "Instructions" link on the advanced scan page, you will find:
Market Cap: Each stock's last reported Market Capitalization. Market Capitalization is expressed in million dollar increments.
So, for example:
and [market cap > 10000]
would return symbols with market cap over 10 billion. A quick check against finviz seems to indicate the results are current (although the documented description says "last reported"; so they may not match for some period after significant market moves. But for this scan, AVP and DNR did not turn up, so it's more current than the labels).
You can combine this with a scan for the SCTR ranking:
and [SCTR > 90]
So you should be able to get pretty close to what you want.0 -

As Markd said you can just create your own large cap list, with your own definitions and then scan that list.
Or you could write to the owners of the index, present a good case and maybe they will change how they do things. Here's a couple of links to info on the index and also their methodology for stock inclusion and calculations.

Good luck on your quest.0
