Is it possible to consider adding the Volatility Stop indicator to your charting / indicators arsenal ?
It is much more accurate and effective then the parabolic sar.

    Have a look at the Chandelier Exit indicator. Chandelier Exit is a relatively new indicator on SCC. It may complement what you are looking for. It also uses ATR. Here is the ChartSchool article:
