Looking for Simple Asset Protection Strategies - for money which is not invested in growing stocks

Hi,
Hopefully not everybody is invested 100%
I am looking for an effective and efficient "asset protection rule".
1. which assets I can easy select for "protection"
2. what Signal can I take for performance Ranking and switching
It should consider also the intermarket business cycle and put the money in the strongest.
I tried it with big asset classes: SPY : TLT : UUP : DBC : GLD (file attached) to get a % performance ranking
Its difficult to make an easy assessment to put 50% on Rank 1, 66% on Rank2 and 33% on Rank 2
thanks for sharing your experience, discussion and ideas
best regards, Matt
