Index against ETF charts

I downloaded chartlists from the expert Erin Swenlin. I try to study each set up. My first question pops up to me is what makes it different to analyze the index against an ETF when they are supposed to be the same reference of the sectors.
Sometimes, She uses Index and the other time she uses ETF for setting the chartists.
