Scan Results

For some reason this scan seems to work fine for 2018 and 2019. I get expected results when testing it against SPX. However, when I try to run this scan for 2017, it does not select SPX when it appears that it should. Sept 5, 2017 and Sept 25th are two examples. Can you see why this scan does not select SPX on those two days in 2017?

FYI, my favorites list 10 does include SPX.

[Favorites list is 10] and [[Low < EMA(9)] and [MACD Line(13,26,9) > MACD Signal(13,26,9)] or [Close < SMA(20)] and [Weekly MACD Line(13,26,9) > 1 Week ago MACD Line(13,26,9)]]

Do you mean "1 week ago weekly MACD Line(13,26,9)"

I'm not sure how the scan engine handles the mixed time frame you have currently.

Also, to verify results with mixed time frames requires looking at two charts, not just one. I don't have time to set up two charts with indicators and dates. Maybe some one else can handle that.
  • I did mean one week ago macdline(13,26,9) but I'll try it using Last week's macd and see what happens. Thanks
  • Playing around with brackets seems to have taken care of it. Adding these extra brackets helps. Thanks

  • What I was trying to say was, I think you need the modifier "weekly" in front of MACD in the phrase "1 week ago MACD Line(13,26,9)" - so it would be

    and [Weekly MACD Line(13,26,9) > 1 Week ago WEEKLY MACD Line(13,26,9) ]

    instead of

and [Weekly MACD Line(13,26,9) > 1 Week ago MACD Line(13,26,9)
  • Thanks, I appreciate your help. It seems to work well both ways now.
