If I read this correctly, I think you can shorten up the code with the min( ) function. The min length parameter is one less than the number of days ago for the tested low. and [ [ //20 day low 4 days ago [ 4 days ago low = 1 day ago min(20, low)] and [ min(3, low) > 1 day ago min(20, low)] ] or [ // 20 day low 5 days ago…

I can't find any scans for finding symmetrical triangle chart formations. Below is the scan I made but it only returned 3 results. Is there a better scan or can somebody improve mine? I wrote this scan for a 4 month period with the usual ascending higher lows and descending lower highs that mark a symmetrical triangle. All…

Okay. I'll chk it out. So far this is what I have built [ [exchange is NYSE] or [exchange is NASD] ] and [RSI(14) > 50.0] and [Volume > 999,999] and [ema(12,close) < ema(26, close)] and [ema(12, close) > ema(26, close) * .98] and [ROC(6) > 0.0] and [ROC(12) > 0.0] and [MACD Hist(12,26,9) > 0.0] rank by ROC(10) I ran the…

I want to scan for stocks that moved more that 1ATR and closed in the upper 25% of their daily range. I tried the following: [Range > ATR(14)] and [Close > High - Range/4], but I get the same results with or without that second clause. Is it possible that every stock that has a range greater than its ATR closed in the top…

Greg Morris recently posted an article on Pair Analysis in his BLOG. In his methodology he uses a weekly chart of IJR:IEF ratio with a 2 period SMA of the ratio, and, when the ROC(1) exceeds +4 or -4 it triggers a switch of the pair. The question was asked how do you put an indicator on the SMA and the answer was…

Try this: and [close < Upper Price Chan(251) - [atr(14) * 3] ] and [close > Upper Price Chan(251) - [atr(14) * 4] ] So this says price is between 3 and 4 atrs below the 52 week high (the upper price channel). It doesn't say whether the it's just coming off the high, or climbing back up to it. That gets more complex.

CORRECTION on #4: MACD-Hist bars cross DOWN & UP at least once during the timeframe [Sorry!]

looks like EMA 8 level is around 122.5 now. Closes were below that level on the prior days. Maybe need to look at the EMA 8 for each of those days. Like 3 days ago close less than 3 days ago EMA 8.... 4 days ago close less than 4 days ago EMA 8, etc

Alert Timing You can choose from four different schedules for your alert: Continuously All Day - alert runs continuously throughout the day. This is the default option. At Market Open - alert runs immediately after the first price update of the day. Hourly (10 AM to 4 PM) - alert runs the first time alerts are processed…

is there syntax to scan for an event that happened between two dates in the past... ie, looking to scan for 30% gain in 5 days that happened between 3 weeks and 4 weeks ago Thanks

LGIH has been making higher highs since Aug 19th, but showing lower highs on both the MACD and RSI...classic bearish divergence. But to no effect...until yesterday. It made 4 new highs and 4 lower peaks on MACD & RSI. This leaves me with 2 questions: 1) Is yesterday's 10% drop just long overdue? 2) If so...what took it so…

I don't use Bollinger Bands, but here is a breakout scan suggested/explained here, about 2/3s down the page: https://support.stockcharts.com/doku.php?id=scans:advanced_scan_syntax:consolidation_breakouts and [today's BB Width(20,2) > yesterday's max(5, BB Width(20,2)) * 4] You could play with the parameters to fit your…

In the Pre-Defined Scans this is the code for the Gap Up part AND [Daily Low > Yesterday's Daily High * 1.026] You would need to modify this to 3 days ago Daily Low and 4 days ago Daily High.... to get the gap up indication in the scan. Then you'd need to check for the subsequent Daily low for the today, 1 and 2 days ago…

I think it would. Thank you for the idea! I tried variations of this too: and [volume > [outstanding shares] * .4]...'did not compute' !..

Hi I searched but could not find anything. I am looking for a scan that would have a stock moving up exactly 3 and 4 consecutive days. Thanks!

Details of the "rank by" statement syntax and results are here (about 3/4 down the page)" https://stockcharts.com/docs/doku.php?id=scans:advanced_scan_syntax

just to the extent of a 1-4 interval (mkt days), so likely given the scope of the scan, new entrants will show up as well.....

I have discovered these four categories, but wonder if I'm on the right track: 1. trend 2. momentum 3. volatility 4. oversold / overbought.
