Predefined-scans

Is there a way to get to the editing for a pre defined scan.for example MACD bullish crossover scan. Is there a way to see the parameters so we can copy/use/adjust in our own scans
thanks

  • When you click on the Bullish MACD result for the NYSE it will open the results page showing the symbols. At the top of the results, there is a row called MEMBER ACTIONS. Click on the Edit Scan Criteria button and it will open the scan in your scan workbench.

From there you can edit/change/delete/save it to your saved scans to refer to or incorporate as you see fit.

You can see the criteria for any of the Pre-Defined Scans in this manner.

StockCharts.com recently added a new page they call the Sample Scan Library

    https://stockcharts.com/freecharts/sample/scan-library.html

This gives you access to all of the scan code for all of the predefined scans, as well as many "new" sample scans added "From the Experts". They also added a "New Relative Highs and Relative Lows section of scans.

Each named scan gives you two options. You can click on the Run button to run it and review and save the results as you see fit. You can also click on the Edit button to open the code in the scan workbench. You can edit the scan filters to your liking, or not, and then save the scan to your account.

Using the Predefined Scans and the new Sample Scan Library is a great way to familiarize yourself with the scan code organization and use. It is how I learned to get the most out of my subscription. That and asking a lot of questions on this forum or reviewing the Search in this forum for answers. I also like the ChartMill scan engine but it's definitely a different animal. I usually take my results from ChartMill and create chartlists in StockCharts to analyze the results as I like SC charts better.
