I am trying to use a MACD bearish crossover scan to find stocks only in the 3 weakest sectors. Is there a condition that looks for sector weakness? So far my code is: [country = US] and [macd line(12,26,9) > 0] and [macd line(12,26,9) <= macd signal(12,26,9)] and [yesterdays macd line(12,26,9) > yesterdays macd…

You could do it this way: [group is sp500] and [ [open > ema(9,close)] or [open x ema(9,close)] ] The "x ema" is redundant, since if it crossed over it is also "> ema". But it doesn't hurt. This scan will work for any day the open is above the ema, not just 3/13 - also 3/12, 3/11, 3/8 etc.

Is the below possible in Stockcharts. Appreciate it. Logic: Price > Average of High, Low, Close of Prior 3 days and Price > Average of High, Low, Close of Prior 3 Weeks. Is this possible? Appreciate your feedback.

Condition 1 - It's not clear what you want to compare - MA 3 at MA 3 x MA 20 versus MA 3 7 days ago, - the two closes on those days, - the MA 3 at MA 3 x MA 20 to the close 7 days ago; - do you mean 7 trading days ago from today, or 7 days prior to the crossover ? Also, since we don't know when the crossover occurred, you…

I would like to replicate the 1-2-3 pattern trading process using the Zigzag overlay. Using End of Day results, is it possible to get stockcharts to list the stocks that are changing direction for the line on the zigzag? Is there something in Stockcharts that currently identifies stocks that are meeting the 1-2-3 pattern?

Adding Price Relative is nothing new. We already had Percent Relative. ... You can use any variety of Percent Relative ... week, month, etc. 1 week, 39 weeks, etc. Example ... rank by [ weekly PctRelative(1,$spx) + weekly PctRelative(2,$spx) + weekly PctRelative(3,$spx) + weekly PctRelative(3,$spx) ]

When scanning for a pullback, I have read that different people define a pullback differently. I have seen the following: 1) 3 consecutive black bars or 2) 3 consecutive lows or 3) 3 consecutive highs or 4) 3 consecutive closes or 5) A combination of the above What is the feeling out there as to the best indication o?f a…

Can you describe the Triple Confirmation Pattern? I assume it has 3 parts.

I plot SMA(3) of RSI(14) and use the SMA(3) as the signal line to find crossovers.

4:30 ish pm eastern 3/13 I get 250 symbols across multiple US markets for the first version I get 2000 symbols (the limit) for the second version across all markets. If you ran the scans off hours you may have overlapped database maintenance, although they should tell you that. To answer your other question (not shown…

Stage 1 follows Stage 4. Stage 4 is the downtrend stage. In Weinstein texts and discussions he uses the 30 week SMA for analysis along with other criteria. I believe, simply put: In Stage 1 the price moves above and below the 30MA with the 30 going sideways for a period. (consolidation/transition) In Stage 2 the price…

I am trying to find an inflection point, but all my tries have resulted in a "your scan syntax is incorrect" What I've tried, among other approaches is: [8 days ago sma (3,close) > sma 7 days ago(3,close)] [7 days ago sma (3,close) < sma 6 days ago(3,close)] What am I doing wrong? jusplainjim

I have read several technical articles as to what constitutes a pullback on a daily chart. They include various opinions: A) 3-5 black candlesticks ( Close<Open) B) 3-5 Lower Highs C) 3-5 Lower Lows D) 3-5 Lower Closes D) A combo of the above I struggle with which criteria to enter into my advanced scans. Comments as to…

Using a RSI(3) setting with an overlay of SMA(2) I am trying to scan for all crossings of RSI(3) up through the overlay SMA(2) line, that occur beneath the 40 level of the RSI indicator per the scale on the right hand side. Any help on how to set up a scan to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i built a basic scan encompassing Sectors and Industries which I picked from the Scan Components-Sectors and Industries drop-down list. I picked 3 sectors for the scan: Technology Sector, Health Care Sector, and Materials Sector. Unfortunately i CAN NOT get the scan to run against all 3 sectors at the same time, instead I…
